Paralympian Leo McCrea made it through safely to tonight’s SB5 100m breaststroke final in Paris.

The Bournemouth University student, who is representing Switzerland, made an electric start to his heat and lead throughout.

He won in a time of 1:32.44, qualifying third fastest for the final, making him a strong medal contender in the event.

Speaking to Buzz News immediately after the race, Leo said: “I’m feeling relaxed. I’m saving my energy for tonight and felt really fast in the pool this morning.”

Leo’s family and friends were poolside, all sporting Swiss t-shirts with his name on, pictured below.

Father Neil McCrea said: “It is a solid start. We’re looking forward to Leo turning on the turbo in the final tonight. Winner takes all.”

His final will be at 6.45pm BST. Channel 4 is broadcasting the Paralympics in the UK.
