While everyone is gearing up for Halloween, this Indian restaurant in Ringwood is preparing for Diwali, the festival of lights.

India Cottage offers visitors a unique opportunity to celebrate Diwali, a Hindu festival symbolising the victory of light over darkness.

Sarah Choudhury, the wife of the Christchurch Road restaurant’s owner, said, “We want to highlight that both occasions fall on the same day. It is great to share the variety of intercultural festivals with our guests.”

She added: “It is an important festival for us. And since we live in England, it is great to share it with others. Everyone is very welcome.”

The grandson of Muhhamed Mannah, who founded the restaurant in 1981, added: “We are open daily, so people enjoy the atmosphere at lunchtime and dinnertime. We love to share our food with others. The festive evening should be a great occasion for  celebration.”

The restaurant will be decorated with traditional candles, called diyas, which give warm light for the cold and dark seasons.

The menu will not be changed, so guests can enjoy their regular favourites and absorb the unique atmosphere on the evening of October 31st.
