Poole Town FC kitman Dan Wilson is living the dream working for his boyhood club.
He has been offered a role in working behind the scenes with the club, and now finds himself a key member of the backroom staff.
Poole Town are members of The Pitching In Southern League currently sit eighth in the table, three points off the play-off places.
The Dolphins have had a solid start to the campaign, only losing three games to AFC Totton, Swindon Supermarine and relegated Havant and Waterlooville.
Poole face 20th place Frome Town away tomorrow in search for three points which would move them closer to the playoffs.
Assistant kitman and Poole Town fan Wilson has been around the club for several years, seeing the action from the terraces and the dugout.
Wilson also holds the title of supporters club chairman, and it is his responsibility to organise events, discounts and members benefits for loyal supporters.
Wilson said: “I’ve had some amazing times following the team and standing behind the goal, especially in the shed.”
Being involved with the football club for a long time, Wilson has seen the highs and the lows. The supporters club chairman believes Poole will be one of the top teams this season.
“The ambition is to be pushing for the playoffs come the end of the season.”
“The main challenge for us will be the amount of quality sides around us so finishing in that top five won’t be easy, but still achievable.”
Wilson works alongside head kitman Matt Reeds.
This time last year Wilson was offered the role of kitman and has enjoyed the experience of being in and amongst semi-professional football.
He said: “It was some experience that first time, I had never been in a men’s dressing room let alone when a lot of players I adore are in there.”
“It was certainly a shock and took many games to get used to. I absolutely love it; it is always a great experience.”
With the season well underway and Poole just outside the playoffs, can the Dolphins and Wilson achieve their ambitions?
