Matt Barton and Andy Brown took silver and bronze medals at the iQFOIL European Windsurfing Championships.

The final took place on Friday in Cagliari, Sardinia with the two GB sailors and Poland’s Pawel Tarnowski.

Tarnowski took the lead off the line despite “very tricky” weather conditions.

Tarnowski held on to the top spot throughout the race taking gold while the two brits battled out for silver.

In the end Brown took the silver medal, in a career-best result since 2022, leaving Barton to take the bronze medal.

Barton said: “I’m absolutely buzzing. It’s been a couple of years since I was on the podium, and this one feels good.”

Barton made another podium appearance back in 2021 in the iQFOIL World Championships.

He added: “It’s amazing to share the podium with Matt as well – its been a great week for the Brits. The last Olympic cycle was tough but I put in lots of training and it seems to have paid off.”
