Poole Town Ladies are set to play at The BlackGold Stadium, home of the club’s men’s team, when they face Sherborne Town Ladies in the Dorset Women’s League this Sunday.

A record-breaking crowd of over 200, significantly higher than their average of around 25, is expected for their first game at the venue since 2020.

The ladies typically play at the Dorset County Ground in Hamworthy, which holds a capacity of 1,000, but this weekend’s venue can welcome a maximum of 3,100 supporters.

Bebe Smith, Poole’s first-team goalkeeper, said: “It’s going to be different, but we are having a lot of supporters coming.”

The switch from their usual 3G pitch, a synthetic surface, to a grass field will also be an adjustment for the players.

“It’s going to be a tough one,” boss Robert Lovelass said. “But there is a buzz around the dressing room.”

The game will be live-streamed online with commentary available, giving supporters an opportunity to follow along from home.

Tickets are free but donations are encouraged to help support the team’s continued progress.
