Poole Town vice-chairman Andy Rossiter believes his side are capable of reaching the football league within ten years.
Rossiter joined Poole Town over four years ago and has witnessed the high and lows of non-league football during his time with the club.
Since becoming a director at the Dorset-based club, Rossiter has set out the desired outcome of promotion.
Over the summer, the ground has undergone a complete transition and has effectively been revamped due to major investment, but Rossiter knows his side need to start picking up points on the pitch.
Regarding the club’s ambition to climb the footballing ladder, Rossiter said: “The ambition is to get to the football league, but first we have to gain promotion year after year, hopefully starting with this season.”
Poole Town currently sit in eighth place after nine league games with 15 points and have been knocked out of both cup competitions.
On the club’s start to the season, Rossiter said: “Obviously we’d like to be a few points higher, the target has always been to be in the top five by Christmas.
“With the squad we have, I think it’s certainly achievable”.
The Dolphins come off the back of a frustrating 1-1 draw with Winchester City in which former Poole goalkeeper Luke Cairney scored a disputed last-minute equaliser off a penalty kick.
Rossiter said: “If we had VAR, the goal would have never stood, the ball clearly didn’t cross the line.”
Poole travel to Sholing FC tomorrow at The Mortgage Decisions Stadium as the Dolphins will be looking to get back to winning ways.
Looking ahead to tomorrow, Rossiter said: “We’ll go into the game full on confidence and I’m really confident we’ll come away with a positive result.
“We’ve got a big month to pick up points, that was the reason behind dropping out of the Dorset Senior Cup.”
Rossiter added: “We didn’t want any interference with our aims of promotion this season.”
