A highly anticipated new restaurant has officially opened its doors in the centre of Bournemouth, offering high class dining for the area.

The once New Look was quickly revamped after closing down and snatched up to make the first Ivy restaurant in Dorset.

Local Dan Young said: “I’m looking forward to the opening of The Ivy, I’ve been to the one in Edinburgh and that was really nice, hopefully at some point I can book a table here. I’m sure it will also bring a bit more tourism down here and maybe even bring some big names to dine there.”

This restaurant is now added to a huge collection of the Ivy around the United Kingdom and Ireland. Since the first ever opening of The Ivy back in 1917 in West End, London, we are now seeing another one of many being opened 107 years later.

Millie Lidster, a member of staff at The Ivy said: ‘The restaurant is so nice, we have all been professionally trained and everything is going so well.”

With their big opening event tonight (Friday 8 November) with many local celebrities and stars going to The Ivy, there is an instant urge to show how great they’ve worked within their 140 staff team.

If you plan on booking a table at The Ivy you may have to wait a good while with over 12,000 bookings already, despite it yet not even being open. Though the high prices of the restaurant are very high, many are eager to experience the food and drink.

Bournemouth local, Fin Shields, who has booked a table said: “I’ve never been to any Ivy restaurants, but I’m looking forward to trying it out, there aren’t a great deal of good restaurants in the town so hopefully this one is good. The only annoying thing is that I’m having to wait till next year to be able to try it.”

With so many bookings, hopes are that this will bring more attraction to Bournemouth and boost the local economy.
