Sky Sports Reporter Mark McAdam has told BUzz News that AFC Bournemouth supporters should be excited with the arrivals of Julio Soler and Matai Akinmboni.

McAdam spoke after the poll revealed by BUzz yesterday, which suggested that 64.3% of Cherries supporters were unhappy with the club’s January transfer business.

Overview of the stats

78.6% of fans also stated that they would most like to see a new attacker in through the doors at the Vitality, as Bournemouth look to pursue European qualification.

The Cherries have conducted early business so far, as Akinmboni (18) and Soler (19) both were confirmed to have joined Andoni Iraola’s squad within the first week of the month.

Soler, who joined from Argentine side Lanus, made his debut as he started and finished the Cherries 5-1 FA Cup win over West Brom.

On the two signings, McAdam said, “These are two young players they’ve brought in, [Akinmboni] played in the MLS eight times last season and was given his debut by Wayne Rooney.

“Obviously Julio Soler got his first taste of English football against West Brom, so therefore he’s straight away got that insight into what it’s about.

“Going into a different country, 18, 19, 20, speaking a different language, trying to settle in and then being the very best version of yourself on the pitch, it’s never easy.”

New striker saga at Bournemouth

McAdam remained confident that the new signings are to be excited about, however eased expectations of a new striker coming in.

On who was going to fill the injured Evanilson and Enes Unal’s boots, McAdam said, “Obviously there is a number of players who can play in that nine role, we saw Dango Outtara play it, scored two goals against West Brom.”

Other options at striker include, Justin Kluivert, Antoine Semenyo and newly recalled Daniel Jebbison, who rejoined the Reds on the 8th January after his loan deal at Watford ended.

Currently, 57% of Cherries fans are optimistic of European qualification this season, and with Bournemouth now unbeaten in their last 10 games in all competitions, fans’ optimism seems nowhere near ceasing.

About Oli Headington

I've always been absolutely football mad. Growing up in Essex, I had a great selection of local league and non-league sides which I could go and watch every weekend, and have developed a love for non-league football as well as support for Chelmsford City.
