AFC Bournemouth Women’s aim to continue flawless league campaign

AFC Bournemouth Women aim to continue their 100 per cent league record when they take on Keynsham Town on Sunday, with kick off at 2pm.
The South Coast side will be looking to build on their 3-2 win against Manchester United Academy in the National League Plate, which sees them progress to the final to take on Cheltenham Town.
The Cherries are gunning for promotion as they currently sit third on 30 points, after ten games, only one point behind both league leaders Swindon Town and second-place Moneyfields. However, Bournemouth have multiple games in hand following a plethora of postponements.
Steve Cuss’ side currently play in National League, South West Division One, in the fourth tier of women’s football.
Bournemouth are preparing in the new state-of-the-art dome complex at the Canford training ground on a Friday evening before a matchday.
The facility sits on what was previously Canford Magna Golf Club.

Manager Steve Cuss told BUzz News: “We’re really lucky to have these facilities, particularly during the winter months.
“As a coach, you’re thinking about the weather and it can be difficult with all the rain and everything. So to be able to come indoors and have these excellent facilities, on a really good surface as well. The players have really enjoyed this winter being inside the dome and training on Friday here.”

Reflecting on what the new facility shows about the clubs long term vision with the women’s team, Cuss said: “You’ve got to obviously, have that ambition and be as good as you can on the pitch, but everything off the pitch has got to match it.
“From my point of view, in terms of trying to sign new players which we were doing at the start of the season, being able to show them around the facilities and the ambition that we’ve got, it’s really important. Not everybody has obviously got these impressive facilities, so it’s a really big step for us to be able to have these and be able to use them every week. It’s such a such a big investment from the new ownership, what does that say about their commitment to the club and to the women’s team?”

Finally, expanding on the club’s ownership by US investor Bill Foley, Cuss said: “We’ve just absolutely loved the new owners and the support that they’ve given us support on the pitch with us being able to sign the players that we’ve signed, but off the pitch with the facilities as well; Bournemouth’s an exciting place to be at the moment.”
