Australia have retained the Women’s Ashes after four matches as they beat England by 57 runs at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Hampshire seamer Lauren Bell continued to impress for a poor England side, picking up another two wickets.
Bell averages 23 with the ball in the series and has taken seven wickets, the third most in the competition so far.
England were bowled out for 141 after just 16 overs, falling way short of the 199 needed, despite a fantastic innings of 59 off 30 balls from Sophia Dunkley.
England were in a positive position at the halfway stage of the chase at 96-3 from the first 10 overs.
However, in familiar England fashion, the last seven wickets went for just 45 runs.
The victory gives Australia an 8-0 lead in the series, meaning the best England can do is draw the series.
Hampshire player Maia Bouchier failed to impress once more, being dismissed second ball of the England innings without scoring.
Bouchier’s poor run continues, scoring only 26 runs in her four innings so far at an average of 6.50.
Freya Kemp, who has joined Hampshire ahead of the 2025 season, picked up a wicket in her first appearance in The Ashes so far.
Linsey Smith missed out on this game but with the situation worsening for England, she may get an opportunity before the series concludes.
England travel to Canberra for the second of the three T20’s in the series.
Heather Knight’s side get underway at 8:15am (GMT) in an attempt to get their first points of the series.
