Barnado’s and The Works team up for toy take-back scheme

January 16, 2025 //  by Ethan Hoskin

Pexels, Dec 26, 2020.

Children’s charity Barnado’s have teamed up with discount retailer The Works for a nationwide toy take-back scheme “Play it Forward”.

Since January the pair have placed donation bins in over 450 of their stores as an opportunity for members of the public to donate pre-loved toys, books, games and stationery.

The only items excluded are clothing, homeware, electricals, diaries and calendars. Jigsaws, pens, and pencils must be unused and in sealed packaging according to The Works website.

Barnardo’s is a UK-based children’s charity dedicated to supporting vulnerable children, young people, and families. They work to tackle a range of issues, including poverty, abuse, exploitation, mental health challenges, and homelessness. They work with thousands of children and families each year, striving to give them safe, stable, and supportive environments to help them build a better future.

The bins can be found at any of 466 The Works stores across the UK selected to participate. You can find your nearest store here.
