Community projects across the BCP area will be putting forward their bids for a share of the cash pot.
This is part of the sixth round of Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) Neighbourhood Portion Funding, which looks to reinvest in community infrastructure that will benefit residents.
Projects are applying for grants that range from a couple of hundred pounds all the way up to the tens of thousands.
Previous applicants included £30,000 for Canford Cliffs Library to extend their community meeting room, as well as £9,700 for Poole Food Bank to refurbish an empty retail unit.
The council is looking to fund several kinds of projects, and suggest some that would apply for the grant, including:
- Environmental improvements – such as landscaping and enhancing open spaces
- Public art
- Street furniture
- Equipment for a community group
Council Leader Cllr Millie Earl said, “It’s great that money raised from developments can be reinvested into our communities to deliver on projects – big or small – that matter to them.”
