BCP Council leader Cllr Millie Earl is hosting a Q&A live on social media this afternoon following Dorset Council’s confirmed support of the government’s Devolution Priority Programme.
She will be joined by cabinet member for transformation, resource and governance, Cllr Jeff Hanna, to discuss the latest work being done by the council to give local people a voice.
The session will be broadcast on BCP Council’s social media channels from 12.15pm.
It comes ahead of BCP Council making an historic decision later this week on whether to join forces with the Heart of Wessex – made up of Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire councils – or a Hampshire combined authority that includes Southampton, Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight.
Councillors will make the choice at a full council meeting on Wednesday 15 January.
Cllr Earl said: “We are an open, transparent and accountable council, where decisions are explained and people are placed at the heart of our service.
“There has been a lot in the news recently about the Government’s plans for devolution, and many will also rightly be wondering what this means for us in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
“Work is under way to make sure the best interests of our residents are served well by any future devolution changes, and although the specifics are yet to be worked through, I look forward to outlining the latest stage of these proposals during the Q&A.”
Questions can be submitted in advance of the live stream on BCP Council’s social media channels.
The session will be broadcast across their main pages including Facebook, Instagram, X and YouTube and will be available to watch later for those unable to tune in live.
