A total of 29 beach huts are due to be removed by BCP council so that a £9 million refurbishment to Bournemouth Pier can begin.
Plans for temporary quarters for construction workers in place of the beach huts have been made.
Local dog walkers and beach hut owners have raised concerns about the demolition affecting residents and tourism in Bournemouth.
Buzz reporters spoke to Caitlin, a beach hut owner, who said: “Bear in mind they’re one of the main attractions, I think it’s crazy because there’s such a large wait list for beach huts.
“There’s so many people who are in demand for beach huts, and quite a lot of people I know are renting out their huts because of that.”
Disruption along the beach huts has meant that one owner couldn’t access her hut for three months as a fence had blocked it.
Sue Donaldson from Poole rents a beach hut on Hamworthy Beach from BCP Council for £2,300 per year.
Ms Donaldson spoke to the Echo and said: “It’s absolutely shocking that we are paying the council all the money for a facility we didn’t have access to.
“I expected to get offered the next year for free or at least a third of my money back.”
The council offered her a refund of £79 for blocking her entrance which she said was a ‘total insult’.
Ms Donaldson had rented her beach hut for five years, but was reconsidering after this incident.
