‘Better than dreamland’ Sky Sports Reporter talks AFCB’s season

Sky Sports Reporter Mark McAdam has referred to AFC Bournemouth’s season as ‘better than dreamland’, in an exclusive interview with BUzz News.

The Cherries currently sit in 8th place in the Premier League, unbeaten in their last nine fixtures and are closing in on their record points tally in the top flight already.

There have been plenty of notable results so far this campaign for the Cherries, as they most overcame the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal, a draw with Aston Villa and victory over Everton twice.

McAdam said, “It’s just remarkable with what they’ve done and the style with which they’ve done it.

“The metrics and data they’re putting out in games, the shots they’re having, second only to City.”

The problem with injuries

However, some Cherries fans remain concerned about the current injury crisis the team finds itself in, with eight players including Evanilson and Enes Unal leaving the Cherries’ attacking options limited.

McAdam, however remains confident, he said, “They are still churning in brilliant results, even with a number of big injuries.

“Whatever happens this season, it will probably go down as one of the best seasons in the club’s history.”

On the injuries, many Bournemouth fans now recognise the club are in need of a new option up front, with over 50% calling on the club to enter the transfer market to find someone to fill the gap.

Who would they bring in?

South coast-based football reporter, Kris Temple, suggested that AFC Bournemouth should look abroad for a new attacker.

Temple said, “I think we need to go for 20-year-old Samuel Omorodion who’s already bagged 13 goals for Porto this year.”

Despite this, Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola has still got players who could slot into the vacant striker position, if the club choose to not enter the market.

McAdam shed light on this, following Monday’s press conference at the Vitality, he said, “There is a number of players who can play in that nine role.

“What happens if you go back into the window to sign another striker? What do you do when all three of those strikers are fit?

“One’s going to be in the stands, one on the bench, two unhappy, that’s something you can’t have.”

Unfortunately, despite reports on BUzz that 19-year-old winger Zain Silcott-Duberry will sign for the Cherries from Chelsea, it is believed he will largely appear within the Under-21 setup.

Hear McAdam’s thoughts

BUzz reporter Jack Mellish has summarised AFC Bournemouth’s transfer policy, why they look to sign younger players, and why Cherries fans should keep their faith in the club’s recruitment.

I've always been absolutely football mad. Growing up in Essex, I had a great selection of local league and non-league sides which I could go and watch every weekend, and have developed a love for non-league football as well as support for Chelmsford City.
