The anticipation for the results of any potential breaches of Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) for the period ending 2023/24 has concluded as the Premier League have not charged any top-flight clubs, including southern teams such as AFC Bournemouth and Southampton FC.
The club with the largest concern amongst fans was Leicester City, who have also avoided any charges related to PSR, with legal disputes between the club and the Premier League ongoing.
Cherries fans will be happy with AFC Bournemouth avoiding charges, but with no other Premier League clubs being charged with penalties such as point deductions; the Cherries will remain in seventh place.
The news of Leicester City avoiding any point deductions will be of notice to Saints’ supporters, with Southampton sitting rock bottom in the Premier League, eight points below Leicester.
Any form of point deduction to teams lower down the league may have provided Southampton with a glimmer of hope with avoiding relegation.
