Bournemouth Lions look to continue spectacular run

The Bournemouth Lions are hoping to increase their remarkable winning run and make it fourteen matches in a row without a loss.

This Saturday they travel away to North Dorset who currently sit 8th in the Regional two South Central.

Buzz news reporter, Samuel Fabre spoke to Captain and inside centre Grant Hancox, who feels the fixture could be tougher than it seems:

“If we are honest their league position doesn’t do them justice, and at home they will be a completely different side to what we faced here at Chapel gate, a huge pack that is very physical and we can’t show any complacency.”

It is indeed a fact that North Dorset are a better side at home winning five of their six games in their own backyard this season, and it will definitely prove a tough away trip.

Bournemouth Lions though are not the same side as the past few years and have grown this season.

As Hancox said, “We’ve shown a resilience that we perhaps haven’t had over the past couple years.”

“It’s really showing that we’ve got grit, we’ve got that determination and got that bond as a group, we have that bond as a team, where we are willing to go to some pretty dark places mentally late on in games to get the results that we deserve.”

Evidence of this change in mentality can be seen in big wins such as, the away win last week against Winchester once again winning by a singular point with a late kick from Grant himself.

After relegation last season, there is a real chance the Lions can go straight back up, and a win over North Dorset will only help promotion prospects.

Promotion is now a huge goal for the club after at the start of the campaign according to Grant, it would have been “a miracle season to be even competing for that.”
