Chelsea agree fee for Keira Walsh

Chelsea FC Women have agreed an £800,000 fee with Barcelona to sign England international Keira Walsh.

The midfielder would become the second most expensive signing in the history of women’s football with a return to English shores.

The Blues have already broken the transfer record this window with the signing of American defender Naomi Girma.

Walsh is no stranger to a high price tag, becoming the most expensive transfer in Women’s football history in 2022, moving from Manchester City to Barcelona in a £400,000 deal.

Since joining Barca, the Lioness has won back-to-back Champions Leagues, but finds herself in a star-stricken midfield alongside Ballon’dor winners Anita Bonmati and Alexia Putellas.

After three years at the club, the midfielder told Barcelona in September that she did not wish to extend her stay.

With only six months remaining on her contract, it appears the Catalan side have decided to cash in on the star now, rather than risk losing her for free in the summer.

Keep an eye on Buzz News for more updates on Women’s Super League Deadline Day.
