According to the BCP Council, the Beryl bike program has grown to be a vital component of the local transportation system and has no intention of leaving Bournemouth, Christchurch, or Poole. According to the council, the bikes have become more popular and the scheme has been successful throughout the conurbation.
Over 8 million kilometres have been travelled by 2.34 million trips since Beryl’s launch in Bournemouth.
This broad use demonstrates how well the program has worked to offer locals and tourists alike a practical and environmentally responsible mode of transportation.
With plans to increase to 800 pedal bikes, 750 e-bikes, and 500 e-scooters across more than 400 parking bays around the area. BCP and Beryl’s cooperation has been extended until 2028.
The BCP program, according to the council, is still helpful, and user surveys indicate a notable decrease in motorbike, van, taxi, and car trips, which has removed more than 2.72 million vehicle kilometres from the BCP road network and saved 294 tonnes of carbon to date.
