Dorset Police have warned residents to beware of scammers knocking on doors with a box of chocolates.

They’ve received reports of fraudsters presenting the gifts and asking for a small payment to cover the cost.

They are targeting people, particularly around Valentine’s Day, to gather personal bank information for fraudulent purposes.

Dorset Alert have advised residents to check before opening the door, never share bank information in this manner, report anything as soon as possible to your bank on 159.

People are also being asked to report any incidents to Notify Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 – and to help spread the word on social media.
