England kept their series with India alive, after a 26-run victory in Rajkot in the third T20.
England went into the game after losing the previous two, needing a win to retain any hope of winning the five-match series.
After a blistering start by the tourists, another batting-collapse threatened to de-rail what looked set to be an impressive innings.
Chasing 172 in their reply, India fell short due to some excellent bowling, with Jamie Overton taking 3/24 and the ever-impressive Adil Rashid taking 1/15 from his four overs.
India will have another chance to wrap up the series on Friday, in Pune.
How the match unfolded…
England got off to an impressive start, despite Phil Salt again departing early in what is proving to be a difficult series for the usually impressive opener.
Ben Duckett and Jos Buttler propelled the tourists from 7/1 to 83/2 inside nine overs, before losing their wickets in quick succession for 51 and 24, respectively.
What followed was a common theme of the series as England collapsed from 108/4 to 127/8 with four overs remaining, before some resistance from Liam Livingstone (43), Rashid and Mark Wood, both 10 not out.
Varun Chakravarthy was impressive with the ball, taking 5/24 from his four overs to restrict England to what the hosts would have felt was an achievable target.
In India’s reply it was England who got off to the perfect start, removing both openers inside four overs, with the dangerous Abhishek Sharma falling to a spectacular catch in the deep by Jofra Archer.
Saturday’s match-winner, Tilak Varma, was again looking threatening until he was done by a superb ball from the economical Rashid who got one to turn back in and through the danger-man’s defences, clean bowling him for 18.
With that, India looked to go on the offensive, with Hardik Pandya scoring 40 whilst others continued to fall around him, leaving the target further from the hosts reach. A flurry of wickets in the 18th and 19th over confirmed the tourists victory and sets up the series perfectly for Fridays’ match in Pune.
