Brendon McCullum has confirmed his XI for England’s first T20 against India.

Captain Jos Buttler will bat at 3 and has passed his wicket keeping duties onto Phil Salt, who will open with Ben Duckett.

Duckett, who has been so impressive for the test side, will open for England in a T20 game for the first time in six years.

Southern Brave’s Jofra Archer is part of the pace attack, alongside Mark Wood, who is playing for the first time since August.

Wood has been out since the first test against Sri Lanka last summer after a stress fracture as well as a thigh problem.

Wicketkeeper batter Jamie Smith, pace bowlers Brydon Carse and Saqib Mahmood, as well as Rehan Ahmed miss out, but are expected to feature in upcoming games.

ENGLAND SIDE TO FACE INDIA:

  1. Phil Salt (WK)
  2. Ben Duckett
  3. Jos Buttler (C)
  4. Harry Brook
  5. Liam Livingstone
  6. Jacob Bethell
  7. Jamie Overton
  8. Gus Atkinson
  9. Jofra Archer
  10. Adil Rashid
  11. Mark Wood

There a five T20’s in the series before three one-day internationals.

The white ball Brendon McCullum era is set to get underway tomorrow at 13:30pm GMT in Kolkata on Wednesday.
