Excessive dog waste outside NHS clinic is a health hazard

For a few years, maintenance workers at an NHS clinic on 11 Shelley Road have dealt with excessive dog waste outside the building.

This poses a health risk to patients as dog faeces contains harmful bacteria and parasites.

Dog foul related diseases can cause significant vision impairments and in severe cases blindness.

Emma Goff is an IT worker for the clinic on Shelley Road and has started a petition to get a dog waste bin outside the premises.

She feels it is “annoying” and thinks “it can be quite harmful, and could attract flies and other things”.

They have to be extra cautious and warn patients with visibility issues.

This issue also concerns her as there is a nursery nearby experiencing the same thing.

“There’s also a nursery over the road, and I feel bad for them, because obviously they’ve got little children, and they can just walk in it and not realise and it’s quite harmful, so it’s sad and frustrating.”

She hopes either a bin, sign, or some form of acknowledgement will be placed.

MP for Bournemouth West, Tom Hays, responded to the petition and has raised it to the council.
