A woman has accused Cameo Bournemouth security staff of assaulting her on Sunday morning (26th January 2025).
A 22-year-old, who BUzz is not naming, claims that one of the bouncers forced his way into a toilet cubicle and repeatedly slammed the door against her, bruising her arm, shoulder and abdomen.
She claims that her and her girlfriend were in the cubicle because she was feeling ill due to low blood sugar levels through diabetes.
The police are investigating the incident and no arrests have been made.
Cameo nightclub has acknowledged an incident took place but said its security team handled the situation in a professional manner.
The 22-year-old’s girlfriend said: “We were just going for a wee because we were just about to go for some food and everything, but she felt ill because of her diabetes, her bloods went low.”
They were in the cubicle together, and concerned customers were asking if she needed a paramedic.
Shortly after she claimed that a bouncer entered the cubicle they were in, she said: “He started ramming the door against me, and it sort of all kicked off from there. He was just really physical.
“No time, no, no thought or anything.”
She claims she proved her diabetic status with a LibreLink, an app that measures glucose levels.
The alleged assault continued, she said: “He literally just pulled down my top. He didn’t even like grab my arm to try and get me out or anything.
“He was just almost like trying to hit me. He had his hand on my shoulder at one point and was pushing me back. He threw me against the back of the the loo.
“It wasn’t zero to 100, it was 75 to 100, he already entered angry.”
The pair claim they sustained bruises from the incident, and begged the bouncer to stop hitting them with the door but were ignored.
They also say they were offered no medical help or support for her diabetes.
A spokesperson for NEOS Hospitality, which own Cameo, said: “We are aware of an incident that took place at Cameo, Bournemouth on the 25th of January.
“Our utmost concern is always guest safety and welfare and following reports from a concerned friend of a guest who was feeling unwell, both a medic and security were sent to check on the guest.
“The security team handled the situation in a professional manner, assessing the guest’s welfare, and leading them to a safe place, ensuring they were left with a relative of one of the group. After reviewing the medical situation, the professional medic deemed that no further action was required, and the guests left the venue.”
The spokesperson added that there was CCTV footage from the incident that was being reviewed.
A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “We received a report at 10.47am on Sunday 26 January 2025 that a woman had been assaulted at Cameo in Fir Vale Road in Bournemouth.
“The incident was reported to have occurred in the early hours of that morning at around 2.30am.
