A Dorset funeral director has invested in modern ceremony rooms to provide a more personalised and affordable option to families.
Douch Family Funeral Directors has been operating for more than a century.
They have seven branches in Dorset – at Parkstone, Wimborne, Ferndown, Blandford, Wareham, Swanage and Corfe Mullen – including four ceremony rooms.
These rooms allow for more personalised funerals, and two even offer live streaming.

Community engagement and development manager Emma Regan explained that they listen to families and try to accommodate whatever they want for their loved ones.
She said: “Our main aim is to offer choice.
“Our funeral directors pride themselves on understanding clients’ needs and what your loved one would have loved, and we can recommend a particular celebrant.”

One example was a Star Wars themed room with a table of a late gentleman’s beloved items.
The ability to live stream in the ceremony rooms was “wonderful” for families, made available during the Coronavirus pandemic, has been continued.
They also work closely with churches many of which have also modernised to accommodate live streaming.
“We like our families to know it’s their choice and they can follow traditions or a modern approach – whatever works best for them.”
