Over 3000 members have signed up to the new gym, which is located in Bournemouth town centre, replacing Wilko’s former site.

JD Gyms Bournemouth Central will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, allowing members the flexibility to train at any time that suits them.

The fitness centre in Richmond Gardens Shopping Centre is around 30,000 sq ft. The gym has an early bird offer available, where all new members can get their first month for just £5.

After this, the membership will be £21.99 a month.

What makes this gym different?

Lorna Albone, a Personal Trainer at JD Gyms Bournemouth Central, said: “We are going to show the community an experience and give them a different kind of energy they aren’t used to.

“We have a huge variety of equipment and an incredible team of coaches, who have all been handpicked.”

Within the large facility, there will be a large free weights section, cardio and strength equipment, a functional Eleiko area, a dedicated glute zone, a studio dedicated to Hybrid training and also luxury changing rooms with saunas.

JD gyms are focusing on improving mental health within the community.

Albone said: “There’s a direct correlation between training, getting your body moving and impacting mental health.

“The more you bottle it up, the worse it gets, we are here to help you, come talk to us.

“We have a consultation room, if you are not feeling great, if you are feeling a bit worried/nervous/anxious, come and talk to us, step into the consultation room and have those conversations.”

The JD Gyms group has more than 90 sites across the UK. The opening of the Bournemouth complex has created 20 new jobs in the area.
