Dorset-based charity Lewis-Manning Hospice Care has opened its new house clearance shop today in Ferndown.
The shop marks the tenth store and the charity wants to continue to grow.
It provides volunteering opportunities as well as raising money for the charity.
The charity’s goals are to provide care for people with life-limited illnesses, offer education about end of life, increase awareness of their charity and to deliver a sustainable future to support others.
Claire Gallie, chief executive of Lewis-Manning Hospice Care, said: “It’s important for people to stay at home and have the opportunity to have their treatment when they’re life-limited or approaching the end of life. It’s important for them to have a choice.”
She also reflected on the reason the job is so meaningful to her.
She added: “Both of my parents died and I was fortunate enough to be in a position to help them at the end of life.
“I think it’s important because there is such a thing as a good death and to be able to have a purpose for myself which aligns with my personal values.
“To be able to really make a difference to people is kind of what I’m about and I’m very very fortunate and phenomenally lucky to be in a job which allows me to have that opportunity.”
