Portland United have announced the appointment of a former Borussia Dortmund coach.

Manuel Laurijssen joins the Blues as a first team coach following a spell at Swanage Town and Herston.

Laurijssen has extensive coaching experience, having worked as Head Coach and Technical Director of Borussia Dortmund Football School in Tokyo and as a youth coach while based at the club itself in Dortmund.

Known as Manu, Laurijssen has also coached in Spain and the UK and holds a UEFA B License and a degree in Psychology.

Portland have also added former player, Paul Gadsby to their ranks as a goalkeeping coach.

A club statement on X reads: “We are delighted to announce that Bully and Kyle have added Coach, Manuel Laurijssen and GK Coach, Paul Gadsby to their coaching staff.”

Having only won one of their last seven games and currently sit 15th in the Wessex Premier Division.

The Blues will be hoping their new coaching appointments can help improve results when they take on Fareham Town on Saturday.
