Q Sports Bar coming to Boscombe in early February

Along Christchurch Road near the Boscombe town centre, Q Sports Bar is expected to open at some point during the first week of February.

The sports bar will operate as a pool and snooker club, for those who either want to play competitively or socially, as well as a sports bar that will show big games, events and tournaments.

Inside the bar, there will be three rooms with a combined 19 pool tables, one table football and five dart boards.

The main room in the sports bar will feature 12 pool tables of world championship size and standard that have been organised deliberately to maximise player performance.

Owner Mark King, who represented Wales for 15 years and competed in the World Championships, plans to use his experiences in the sport to make sure players can maximise their potential while using the facilities.

King said: “As I’ve come from a pool background the last thing you want is no space, so we’ve made sure that there is plenty of space for players to play.”

Initially, Q Sports Bar was expected to open last year within the Richmond Gardens Shopping Centre but was rescheduled and relocated to Boscombe because “it would have cost a bit too much.”

The bar took over the space in November from previous occupants Spectrum Academy, who were also    specialised in pool and snooker.

The owner has big plans for remodelling the space. The entire interior is being revamped and they have already added a light up sign outside which he hopes will “spread the word.”

There are also plans to implement a membership scheme where those who sign up will receive discounted prices on alcoholic drinks as well as hourly snooker and pool rates.

King stressed that the space is for everyone and that he is more than happy to welcome ideas on ways to improve the bar so that everyone can enjoy it.
