AFC Bournemouth’s 18-year-old talent, Remy Rees-Dottin, made his highly anticipated Premier League debut on January 18, 2025, during a remarkable 4-1 victory away at Newcastle. The young forward’s cameo marked a significant milestone in his burgeoning career and highlighted his seamless transition from U21 football to the first team.

Reflecting on his debut, Rees-Dottin described the experience as “very surreal,” emphasising how unexpected yet rewarding the moment was: “I didn’t expect the score to go that well for us as well, so being able to come on and make my Premier League debut was the best achievement of my career so far,” he said.

Rees-Dottin credited his confidence for helping him stay composed under the spotlight: “I don’t really get nervous, to be honest, even going into first-team games. I just know I’m confident in my ability, and even if I do come on, I think I can make an impact in the game,” he explained.

The youngster also shared insight into the pre-debut advice from his manager: “All he said was, ‘When you get on the ball, enjoy it, try and beat your man, and just have fun.’ That really stuck with me.”

Having joined Bournemouth’s academy after a setback at Southampton, Rees-Dottin’s journey is one of resilience and hard work. “I was at Southampton until the age of 12, and then I got released. My family picked me straight up and said, ‘We know you’re good enough to get into another club.’ They’ve been driving me up and down ever since,” he revealed.

Looking ahead, Rees-Dottin aims to stay involved with the first team while continuing to develop his versatility, having played in various attacking and defensive roles during his time in the U21s.

He said: “I think I can put in a good performance anywhere.”

With the Cherries fighting for European football, Rees-Dottin’s debut showcases the club’s commitment to developing young talent. As he continues to learn from senior players, Rees-Dottin’s future at Bournemouth looks exceptionally bright.
