Pokrovsk, an essential transportation and logistics centre for both road and rail, faces the threat of isolation as Russian forces advance towards the eastern Ukrainian city.

The capture of Pokrovsk would enable Russia to initiate additional offensives in various directions within the eastern region, thereby broadening its territorial acquisitions in the conflict-ridden Ukraine.

Russia conducted a night time drone assault on Ukraine, resulting in injuries to four individuals.

The drones inflicted damage in the north-eastern Sumy region, the southern Odesa region, and the central Cherkasy region.

In return, Ukraine launched a drone attack on an oil refinery located in the southern Volgograd region of Russia. A fire started in result of the attack, but the fire has been put out according to the regional governor, Andrei Bocharov.

Earlier today, Russian forces have taken control of the village of Novovasylivka, located in the eastern Donetsk region of Ukraine, according to Russian state news agency.
