The Friends of Knyveton Spencer Gardens, in partnership with Parks In Mind, are excited to host their first volunteer session of the year in Spencer Gardens, tomorrow.

The Friends of Knyveton and Spencer Gardens are a group of volunteers who live around the park.

The session will include light gardening work and clearing the grass of large tree branches.

The group are supplying hot drinks and refreshments but are encouraging attendees to bring a reusable cup “to save the planet.”

The event follows the community group receiving a £400 funding cheque from ASDA.

They plan for the funds to go towards purchasing gardening tools and equipment, enabling the group to continue their work revitalising the community.

The group have received unwavering support from local councillor Sara Armstrong, she said: “Their efforts highlight the vital importance of protecting our green spaces and local nature whilst creating space for residents to come together relax, feel a sense of belonging and community whilst connecting with the natural world.

“I am extremely proud to support it.”

Rose stone, a member of the community group said: “We are engaging with our local community to come and join us… ready for a busy year of gardening.”

The event starts at 11am tomorrow.

If you would like to support the group or get involved, contact the Chair friendsksg@outlook.com or sara.armstrong@bcpcounil.go.uk.
