Staff hope new refurbishments to a Poole leisure centre will encourage more people into the venue.

New management under BCP has allowed Ashdown Leisure Centre to receive new investments.

It was taken over on the 1st October as part of the councils’ six-month plan to modernise and install new equipment.

The refurbishments are expected to attract more gym-goers.

A spokesperson for the Ashdown Leisure Centre said: “It’s all pulse gym equipment, and it will bring in more people which is needed.”

The scheme also spans two other centres: The Dolphin Leisure Centre and Rossmore Leisure Centre.

Gym users are happy with the cleanliness, but many prefer the old machines.

One gym user said: “It’s new and cleaner, but the machines aren’t as receptive to heartbeat – we liked it the way it was.”

The BCP Leisure management model includes a capital repayment investment plan across all three facilities.

Gym users can check out these improvements at the centre on Adastral Rd in Canford Heath, Poole.
