Poole Town Fc have announced the signing of Keelan O’Connell who joins from National League south side Weymouth.

The 25-year-old winger came through the youth system at AFC Bournemouth and has experience in the National league while playing at Torquay before signing for the Terras in 2022.

Poole Town manager Pat Suraci was delighted to see O’Connell put pen to paper.

“He’s got quality in the final third, he’s a good decision maker, he’s agile, a good dribbler and carrier of the ball”.

The signing comes after Dario De Luca left the club due to logistical problems.

“The London-based boys were only previously training once a week & now we want them in twice a week and he just couldn’t commit to that”.

The Dolphins manager believes O’Connell will be a fine replacement and a positive addition to his side: “If you can replace him with someone of the positive of Keelan, maybe it’s a positive”.

With Poole only two points off the relegation zone, O’Connell know what it takes to survive a tense relegation battle, at the end of the 22/23 campaign which went down to the wire as Weymouth stayed up on goal difference.
