Two friends are running seven marathons in seven days across Dorset to raise money for the Dorset Cancer Care Foundation (DCCF).
Chris Helberg and Chris Bryer-Ash are by no means experienced runners – these marathons will be their first ever, but they are hoping the magnitude of the challenge will inspire generosity in others.
They started their training in September, and now there are eight weeks to go before the start of the challenge.
The pair start their journey in Sandbanks, and run through Dorchester and Wareham over the course of the week before crossing the line on Bournemouth Pier; a total distance of 183.4 miles.
“I’m super nervous – I think on a daily basis; ‘is this crazy? Is this humanly possible for someone who’s never run marathons before?'”
“I must think about the reasons for doing it; helping people who are in need, that’s what spurs me on.”
Cancer has had a large impact on both men’s lives.
“My mum has had cancer, my auntie has had cancer – everyone we know has been affected by cancer,” Helberg said.
His mother, Eve Went, is a co-founder of the DCCF, and has battled cancer three times.
The charity helps cancer patients who are struggling with the hidden costs of cancer treatment.
This could include transport and accommodation, house modifications, domestic help and food bills.
The increasing cost of living has made these donations from the DCCF more vital than ever.
So far, the duo have raised over £15,000 of their £20,000 goal.
“We’re not going to be able to cure cancer, but if we can make a very small difference then this challenge is 100% worthwhile.”
