The new plans are for 24 salt caverns to be drilled 1.3km underground.
The company have stated that this could store up to one billion cubic metres of hydrogen.
The UK Oil and Gas PLC (UKOG) said that it is also considering plans for a green hydrogen plant and Portland Port.
This would be linked to the new hydrogen site.
