Valiant Cherries held to a point by Chelsea

AFC Bournemouth were held to a 2-2 draw by Chelsea on Tuesday night, conceding a late equaliser at Stamford Bridge.

The depleted Cherries went behind to a 13th minute Cole Palmer goal, but a Justin Kluivert penalty and a powerful Antoine Semenyo strike saw Andoni Iraola’s men turn the game on its head.

However, Bournemouth were unable to hold onto all three points, Chelsea skipper Reece James bending a free kick past Mark Travers in stoppage time.

Despite the late disappointment, the Cherries will be happy with the point in the circumstances, and they can count themselves lucky that David Brooks didn’t see red, after the winger caught Marc Cucurella in the face off the ball.

The result means that Bournemouth sit seventh in the Premier League, just three points behind Chelsea in fourth, with the Cherries travelling north to face Newcastle on Saturday.
