Weymouth headline this weekend’s non-league action in Dorset

While Europe chasing AFC’s Bournemouth’s game against table toppers Liverpool is likely to take the headlines this weekend, there is plenty of other football taking place this weekend in Dorset.

Weymouth FC

In the National League South, bottom club Weymouth take on Welling United at home. Although the two clubs are only four places apart in the league table, the Terras are 14-points behind the East-London side. Weymouth haven’t won a league fixture since November and lost to Welling away earlier this month, so it will be a tough ask for Warren Feeney’s side to overcome the Wings.

Dorchester Town

In the Southern Premier League South, Dorchester travel to London to take on Hanwell Town. The Magpies currently sit fourth in the league, comfortably inside the league’s playoff places, although sixth placed Walton & Hersham are only six points behind with two games in hand. ‘Dorch’ haven’t lost a league game since the start of November, although they have drawn in three of their last four games.

Wimborne Town

In the same league, Dorset’s other ‘Magpies’, Wimborne Town, face Bracknell at home. Wimborne have only lost three times at the Wyatt Homes Stadium this season and will hope the home atmosphere can hope them go one better than the 0-0 result when they face Bracknell earlier in the season. This is the first of seven games for the Magpies this month, as Tim Sills’ men look to pull themselves clear of the relegation zone.

Poole Town

Poole have struggled so far this season, finding themselves only one point outside of the relegation zone after 26 games. The Dolphins will be hopeful of a result at the Tatnam Ground when they take on a Frome Town side that have only won five times all season.

Shaftesbury FC

In the Southern League Division One South, Shaftesbury take on Cinderford Town. Shaftesbury sit one place above the relegation zone, but will be confident of victory tomorrow given that Cinderford are rock bottom of the league, however the Rockies haven’t won since New Years Day.

Wessex Premier League

In the Wessex Premier League, three Dorset sides are in action. Hamworthy Recreation, Bournemouth Poppies and Christchurch FC all have away fixtures on Saturday. Hamworthy Recreation take the trip to Pompey to take on United Services Portsmouth; Bournemouth Poppies head to Laverstock & Ford; while Christchurch travel down the A31 to face Millbrook

Wessex Division One

In the Wessex Division One, Hamworthy United, who sit just inside the playoff places, travel to Salisbury to take on Amesbury.
