The Wiggles Wanderers made their debut in the official Bournemouth National Touch Rugby League on Wednesday, January 22nd.

Despite a strong performance, the team finished in 4th place, with the Vinyl Vikings claiming the top spot after winning all four of their matches, earning bonus points for each victory.

Mackenzie Davis, won MVP of the tournament, helping gain the victory for the Vinyl Vikings.

Jason Marshall-Goodridge, Vice-Captain for Wiggles Wanderers shared his thoughts on the tournament;

“We were quite confident the day before and the morning, ready to go in and win the tournament. But due to injuries, a lot of players weren’t able to play, so our team morale pretty much went out the window.”

He said; “Our attitude towards games was rubbish which I think let us down. There wasn’t much positivity throughout the squad. As Vice-Captain I tried to motivate my teammates, even though the morale was down I just tried to encourage them using positive language and tried to pick up their heads bringing us together as a team”

Despite the disappointing results, Jason finished as top try scorer in the tournament. He went on to say:

“Towards the end of the tournament the boys started getting smiles back on their faces, despite the results eventually in the end it was fun. We know what we need to work on going forward.”
