Legendary British rock band Wishbone Ash is set to make a special stop at the Tivoli Theatre as part of their 2025 UK Wishlist tour, offering fans a rare opportunity to experience their music in a brand-new way.
The Tivoli is one of only four venues chosen to host the band’s exclusive ‘Double Dates’, featuring two completely different sets, which will be performed on the 23rd and 24th October.
As part of their Wishlist Tour, Wishbone Ash have put their fans first, carefully curating their setlists based on fan polls. The result? A tour that truly delivers what fans want to hear.
Wishbone Ash bass player, Bob Skeat, said: “We decided to put a poll on the internet last year and let the fans decide what songs they want to hear, so those came out on top, we’ve put them in.”
This approach ensures each performance is a celebration of the music fans love most, making the tour a standout event for rock enthusiasts.
With over 55 years of acclaimed music, the band will deliver a mix of fan-favourite classics such as The King Will Come, and Blowin’ Free, as well as other lesser played songs.
Skeat joined the band 28 years ago. He said: “There is a song called You Rescue Me which we have never played in my tenure in the band. Perhaps they played it live in the 70s, but it was voted in last year and we’re all thoroughly enjoying playing it.”
Fans can attend one night or take advantage of a discounted price to enjoy both performances and fully immerse themselves in the band’s iconic sound.
Skeat said: We’ve done back-to-back dates in other countries, but not really in the UK, but it makes life easier for us and double whammy for the venues. One night featuring argus, and the other night with a different setlist. We said wouldn’t it be nice to make the tour more comfortable for everyone, and less stress and driving around for us. Everyone is happy.”
As pioneers of twin guitar harmonies, Wishbone Ash left a huge mark on rock and metal music from the 70s, up until the current day.
Whilst legendary acts like Thin Lizzy and Iron Maiden have credited them as a major influence, their contributions often remain overlooked, leaving this groundbreaking band underappreciated by many.
Rainer Frilund, who has worked on a Wishbone Ash discography site since the 1990s, said: “Their musical talent and guitar and vocal harmonies caught my ear back in the 1970s. Then later on I realised they never got the recognition they deserved.”
The band played in the Tivoli last year, and are enthusiastic to return.
Skeat said: “It’s really welcoming from the word go. You get similar fans come year after year, because they also love the theatre. It’s a sit-down theatre. Many fans of an age prefer to sit down nowadays, which makes it perfect.”
