The YMCA are running the London Marathon to provide funds for homeless people in Bournemouth.
The event, that is set to take place on the 27th April 2025, will be ran by YMCA Bournemouth’s chaplaincy Lead John Good and supporter Graham Dennison, who volunteered to represent the organisation last year.
Operating across four projects, YMCA Bournemouth helps to rebuild the lives of men and women aged 18 to 65, offering 114 beds, 73 hostel rooms, 22 flats, seven shared flats (14 beds) and a five-bedroom house.
Funds raised by the YMCA will directly help hostel residents to become move-on ready, addressing their personal challenges and contribute to short-term housing and their person-centred services.
Gareth Sherwood, CEO of YMCA Bournemouth, talked about his appreciation for Good and Dennison volunteering for the organisation:
“Their efforts will raise vital funds that empower our residents to overcome challenges and develop the skills they need to lead fulfilling, independent lives.
“This marathon is not just about the race but about building brighter futures together” – Sherwood continued.
