Following Hurricane Melissa that hit Jamaica this week, the UK faces threats of heavy rain and gale force winds.
While it was predicted for the weather to be the most extreme on the 30 October, 80mph winds are predicted to hit late Friday night and early Saturday morning.
Many Bournemouth University students fear the weather may disrupt their Halloween plans, with one exclaiming “I was looking forward to going out tonight, but the thought of soggy clothes and frizzy hair is making me feel as though it isn’t worth the effort”.
It has been predicted that many parts of the UK could face 20mm of rainfall with the North of England facing the worst of the weather.
Another Bournemouth University student has given up on their plans completely, “the storms wrecked my night out, I’m not about to swim to the club, I would rather stay in and wait to go out next Friday”.
Despite many complaining about the storm, Halloween clubbing events have been sold out across Bournemouth this past week.
This has prompted many places to release limited tickets on the door from 9pm, resulting in a multitude of students left to queue in the Storm just for a place to spend the night.
Some have even been so desperate to get into any of the local clubs that they have brought tickets off others for upwards of £40.
Giving hope to clubs and Bournemouth residents that regardless of the poor weather conditions Halloween revellers will have a place to go to tonight.
