Members of a Bournemouth-based dance group are shocked at the revelation that Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman are leaving Strictly Come Dancing.

The two TV icons announced they were leaving the well known show just yesterday.

Daly has worked on Strictly since its beginning back in 2004.

Meanwhile, Traitors star, Claudia Winkleman, has been featured on the show for the past 14 years.

Their replacements have not yet been announced.

A Bournemouth Dance group has mentioned their surprise at the recent revelation.

Sophie Bunting, a dance teacher at the Emma Castle Performing Arts (ECPA) dance academy, said: “I am very shocked.”

“However, I think it will be nice to have a change as they’ve been doing it for so long.”

“It will be interesting to see who they replace them with.”

A Youth Participation Pilot Survey by the UK government found that 42% of children and young adults take part in dance classes.

The ECPA is one such dance school that helps aspiring performers.

Bunting went on to say: “The show is a massive inspiration to a lot of young dancers”

“It is an amazing way to showcase the talent and skill that most dancers have.”

Additionally, a spokesperson for Bournemouth University’s dance society corroborated Bunting’s opinion.

Tara Lafferty, the co-president and fundraising manager of the society said: “It came out of the blue and was very unexpected.”

“Tess and Claudia will be big shoes to fill for next season and I don’t know if the show will be as popular.”
