Cherries’ Supporter Services “very excited” for Vitality Stadium developments

AFC Bournemouth have launched a planning application for the enabling works for an expansion of their home, the Vitality Stadium. 

It’s the beginning of the next phase of planning for the club to increase their stadium’s capacity from 11,000 to 20,000. 

The expansion will allow the club to remain competitive in the Premier League, as well as increase matchday revenues and impact the local economy and businesses positively. 

These works are expected to be around £3.5million, seeing new perimeter fencing built, new turnstiles, a main stand extension and a bigger broadcasting area. 

Foundations will also be laid for a new south stand during the season. 

The new perimeter fencing will relocate the turnstiles, meaning tickets will be checked before entering the ground.

The club have said this will reduce queue times and also adhere to Premier League security and counter terrorism standards. 

Jamie Munro, a member of Supporter Services at AFC Bournemouth says: “It will further help the queues outside the stadium which will help the community on match days”.

“It will also help with the atmosphere of the stadium, with fans in more seats, making the club feel more a part of the Premier League”.

Savills, who spoke on behalf of the club, mentioned that a stadium failing to meet current standards “hinders their ability to sustain Premier League status and pursue long term growth”.

Clearly the stadium will prove vastly beneficial for the club and the community, and hope the modernised stadium will help with the club’s Premier League stature.
