The Terrence Higgins Trust responded with an anonymous spokesperson, aged 26, with regards to the HIV protection Jab, which has recently been approved for use across England and Wales.
The new injections will be given out as a shot six times a year, or ever other month, as an alternative to the current HIV prevention method- taking a dose of daily pills. Cabotegravir ( CAB-LA) hopes to contribute to ending all new HIV cases by 2030, as the Injections can last for months.
The Terrence Higgins Trust is a charity supporting people’s sexual Health. Their Dorset Spokesperson expressed : ” The official feeling is one of positivity. The whole trust are feeling very positive about it. ”
“We are feeling very hopeful about the approval of this game-changing injection, just because it will be quite transformative as a HIV response, not just for our Organisation, but for the UK as a whole.”
The Terrence Higgins Trust Spokesperson said : ” It will work towards the goal of eradicating new cases of HIV by 2030, and will be highly effective and quite useful for people who may not be able to take oral pills or who feel unable to access it for different reasons.
“So it will be good for tackling inequalities and it will have the potential to reach those who are not currently able to take HIV prevention. So that’s very positive.”
“It will target specific groups in a really positive way and make it more accessible, so for example, some groups of vulnerable women, as well as some people who may not be able to take the pill and adhere to daily pills for different reasons, related to, for example, mental function and so on.”
