Dorset Owl’s reaction to Sheffield Wednesday’s administration file

Sheffield Wednesday have been placed into administration and have been deducted 12 points by the EFL.

The administration effectively ends Dejphon Chansiri’s decade-long tenure of ownership at the club.

It ends a long growing despite between him and the fans.

In a statement made by the EFL, they said that the administration was “the opportunity to move matters towards a successful sale and secure future under new ownership”.

Lifelong Wednesday fan, Graham Butler, from Dorset, offered his reaction to the ordeal.

Graham has followed Wednesday since boyhood, after falling in the love with the club after going to his first game at Hillsborough.

“It’s bitter sweet.

All fans want this to get rid of Chansiri, although we would have prepared for him to have sold the club rather than going into administration”.

Seats spelling out Chansiri’s name were removed from the stadium this afternoon, around only 5 hours after the original announcement.

“But equally it pretty much condemns us to League one next year and a painful season ahead”.

Graham also went on to share why action from the fans is as important as ever now that the club is ownerless.

“Now it’s important for every fan, Sheffield based or otherwise, to buy tickets, merchandise, programmes, player sponsorship packages, pies, pints etc and help the day in and day out running of the club until new owners can be secured”.

“It’s important now to sell tickets, fill the stands, and show any prospective buyer the full power and potential of this sleeping giant”.

The Sheffield Wednesday Supporters Trust announced that the boycott of home matches is now over, and is encouraging as many fans to return to Hillsborough.

The Owls face Oxford at home at the weekend, now on -6 points in the EFL Championship.
