The Dorchester Sprint Triathlon is back this Sunday with more than 300 competitors set to take part in what has quickly become one of the most anticipated multisport events in the Dorset area.

The race has been going on for the past two years in the Dorchester area. Competitors will meet at the 1610 Sports Centre in Dorchester, with the race beginning at 7am.

Competitors will begin with a 300-metre pool swim, followed by a 21-kilometre bike ride which is accompanied by some beautiful scenery, as well as what is described as a very friendly and easily accessible course.

The route includes two loops around the Great Field at Poundbury. The event finishes with a 5k run.

One of the competitors who is taking part in the race Sunday is Joe Brookes.

He said: “It is an event I thoroughly enjoyed last year, and I think with the feedback it received it will only go from strength to strength.”

Joe also highlighted how the event is brilliant for not just the local area, but also for inspiring people to become active and get involved in physical activity.

He added: “The overall vibe of the event is something that is unique to me, even though everyone wants to do well, it has a real community sense to it. People bring their whole families and make a deal great morning/afternoon out of it.”
