Maia Bouchier has been training alongside Bournemouth University Cricket’s performance squad as they get their pre-season programme underway.
The England international took part in the Monday afternoon fielding session at the Talbot Campus 3G Arena, which was led by Steve Wilson, the cricket coach and head of performance sport at Bournemouth University.
Bouchier has had a successful domestic campaign this summer, scoring 186 runs for Southern Brave in the Hundred and 539 runs for Hampshire in the Metro Bank One Day Cup.
With the English domestic season now over, the 26-year-old joined in on the Bournemouth University Cricket training session to make sure that she is ready for any potential call-ups to the England side currently competing in the ICC Women’s World Cup.
Bouchier said: “I wanted to come down so I could get some fielding in for preparation in case I’m called up to India for the World Cup.”
The intensity and level of cricket at the University’s training session impressed Hampshire’s opening batter.
She stated: “The standard was good and it was great to have a run around with the lads. They were all very welcoming!”
The Bournemouth University Cricketers saw this as a great opportunity to learn and develop their own game.
Joe Carson, a cricket scholar and Performance Vice President, said: “It was great to have Maia down. I think it gave us a chance to see what sort of effort and dedication we should have when we train ourselves.”
