Wimborne Town look forward to the Dorset Magpies derby this Saturday despite poor away form.
Although they stand in the playoff spots, Tim Sills’ side have had problems getting results on the road, only registering 4 points from a possible 15.
On the other end of the table, Dorchester are languishing in the drop zone, sitting 19th in the Southern Premier League South table.
Tom Killick’s outfit will come into this game after a 2-0 defeat in another Dorset derby away at Poole Town on Tuesday night.
However, Sills knows better than to be complacent saying: “They haven’t started the season as well as they would’ve like but it’s gonna be a tough place to go.”
Meanwhile, Wimborne have just thumped Yate Town 4-1 at the Wyatt Homes Stadium and will come into this game with confidence sky-high.
After going 1-0 down to the visitors, Lewis Williams’ brace brought his team back just before half time, one of which was a beautiful curling free kick that amazed the home crowd.
Two late goals from Cameron Munn and Joe Smith sealed the three points for the hosts.
Despite the big win, Williams was adamant that Wimborne: “Can’t start like we did – every game is gonna be a tough one.”
Dorchester will hope to lean on their historical record, having not lost to their rivals in their 8 games since the turn of the decade.
Both meetings last season ended in a 1-1 draw.
Wimborne will hope to break their poor run in the derby and to stay in the highly-contested playoff spots.
The county club will need points to escape the relegation zone and reach double figures for the first time this season.
