Wimborne Town travel to league leaders Walton and Hersham at the Elmbridge Xcel Sports Hub this weekend.

The Swans come into this game top of the league with seven wins from nine.

Wimborne Town however, come into this game after an FA Trophy win vs Weymouth which saw the Magpies as 2-0 victors. This win ensured their place in the next round which is now confirmed as a home bout against AFC Portchester.

The last time Wimborne made the away day to Walton it finished 2-1 to the hosts, despite the Magpies going 1-0 up.

A late red card to Billy Walker after two yellow cards changed the game, with the Swans taking their chances against a weakened defence.

Wimborne failed to return home with any points.

Wimborne may be more hopeful this time, as their firepower has been significantly improved this season with the additions of Lewis Williams, Max Bustamente and Joe Smith to support the consistent Will Fletcher.

In fact, the quartet has scored a combined 17 goals already this campaign.

A return that trumps the output of the attack this time last season.

Walton and Hersham forwards have also enjoyed their time in front of goal this season.

Swans striker Jack Wood had what must have been the match of the season so far after four goals in one game in the 6-3 win to Plymouth Parkway.

The Swans were one of only two teams to do the double over Wimborne last campaign, a testament to both the quality of the hosts as well as the resilience of the Wimborne squad against top sides in the division.

Wimborne already have experienced matching the ability of the best sides in the league, such as the draw away at Farnham Town, where the hosts had a 90+8-minute penalty awarded to crush hopes of all three points.

The Magpies have also beaten the bookies favourites at the start of the season Havant and Waterlooville in convincing fashion, as well as local rivals Weymouth twice, so the big games rarely push them off balance.

The Magpies have even overcome higher opposition in National League outfit Bath City in the FA Cup, however have since been knocked out of the prestigious trophy by Worthing FC.

It looks like the three points aren’t going to be given over easily to the frontrunners.

And with the many sides competing for the playoff positions this season, every point counts.

It will certainly be an interesting encounter, with both sides starting the season in excellent fashion.

This fixture is a hard one to predict, and it could be the case a moment of magic will be needed to settle the score this weekend.
